J.V. HILLIARD FIELD
J.V. Hilliard Field is one of the most unique stadiums in the area. The 1,000-seat bowl type facility located just north of Hutcherson Exercise Science Center is actually below ground level, providing a useful and functional windbreak for West Texas winds.
Completed in 1964 as a home for the Pioneer track and field teams, the stadium was originally known as the Wayland Bowl, but was renamed Hilliard Field in 1981 to honor Wayland's first track coach and the driving force behind the construction of the stadium.
Renovations were made to the track infield beginning in the spring of 2001 to prepare for the inaugural season of Pioneer soccer that fall. It is now the home of both the Pioneer soccer and the track and field programs.
