MEET THE COACHES
Tom Harp - Pioneer Head CoachTom Harp is in his seventh year as the head coach of the Wayland Baptist University golf team. He helped lead the Pioneers to a runner-up finish at the 2007 NAIA Championship Tournament. It was the fifth straight appearance by the WBU golf team at nationals, and its highest-ever finish. Coach Harp is looking forward to the 2007-2008 season and is excited about the new players who have been added to the roster. Coach Harp and the team are looking forward to new challenges they will be faced with this year as they play high quality tournaments and teams. |
Mikel Martinson - Graduate Assistant CoachFormer Wayland Baptist NAIA All-American golfer Mikel Martinson is the Pioneer's graduate assistant for the 2007-08 school year. The 2007 Roscoe Snyder Award winner, presented annually to the top male student-athlete at Wayland, Martinson was the golf team's 2006-07 MVP. He won the University of Victoria Shootout in October of 2006 and holds the school record for lowest 36-hole tournament round when he finished the first day in Victoria with a 6-under par at the Cordova Bay Golf Club. Martinson, a graduate of Throckmorton (TX) High School and a transfer from New Mexico Junior College, was also the receipient of the 2005-06 Manning Trophy given annually to the Pioneer with the lowest season average. |
