For the fourth time in their last five trips to the NAIA Men’s Division I National Championship Tournament, the Wayland Baptist Pioneers will face Mountain State University of West Virginia. The game is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday at Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium.
WBU played the Cougars in the first round of the 2002 tourney, losing 85-71. In 2003 and 2004, the Pioneers and Cougars met in the second round with Mountain State coming out on top both times, 94-85 and 84-66. MSU went on to reach the championship game in both those years, winning the national title in 2004. >>Read More
Pioneer Basketball wins at naia tourney
Kansas City, Mo.---Jon Hurt hit four straight free throws down the stretch to help lead the Pioneers to a hard-fought 89-85 victory over Martin Methodist College in the first round of the 2008 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Championship Tournament.

CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT GAMES TO BE BROADCAST LIVE
Wayland basketball fans have three different ways to enjoy the Pioneers' run during the Buffalo Funds/NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Tournament next week. KKYN Radio will broadcast the games LIVE both on the radio (KKYN 1090 AM) and online (www.kkyn.net).
In addition, the first 28 games of the Championships will be video-streamed LIVE by the NAIA on the Internet, while the Semifinal round (March 24) and National Championship Game (March 25) will air live nationwide on CBS College Sports Network (CSTV), with Jason Knapp calling the action and Steve Wolf providing color analysis. PIONEERS TO OPEN NATIONAL TOURNEY
The Pioneers will play the opening game of the 71st Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament. WBU will take on #12 seed Martin Methodist College of Tennessee at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19.

EDMOND, Okla. -- Much like the first two meetings between Oklahoma City University and Wayland Baptist University, Saturday's Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal was very physical and hard fought.
