ATHLETICS

Unconditionally committed to success.
At Wayland, we have an established legacy of success in the world of intercollegiate athletics. The Pioneers and Flying Queens are proud members of the Sooner Athletic Conference, and compete at the Division I level of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Winners on and off the field.
Student athletes at Wayland understand the importance of striving for excellence both in the classroom and in the competitive arena. All student athletes sign a pledge dedicating to be, first and foremost, a Champion of Character. They develop high ideals of fairness and sportsmanship in their relationships, and develop an understanding of the value of athletics in a balanced educational process.

A championship tradition.
While our definition of success goes far beyond final scores, a championship tradition never hurts. The intercollegiate athletics teams at Wayland have produced more than 800 All-Americans, 25 NAIA national basketball tournament appearances, countless conference championships, and more than 100 individual national champions.

Fun for everyone.
As a student at Wayland, you will have countless opportunities to compete, whether at the intercollegiate level or purely for fun. You will have a number of intramural programs and sports from which to choose, and students are always gathering for informal games and activities all over campus.
