Kathleen Tonn

Background/Expertise: My work experience is varied. I’ve worked for the state and federal government, the non-profit sector, private industry, including being self-employed, and now in a university setting. I’ve been employed as a graphic artist, swim instructor, pre-school teacher, personnel consultant, real estate property manager, manager of a non-profit business, marketing representative, insurance agent, and realtor. My all-time favorite position is that of being a mother to my two sons.

Academic Interest/Specialization: I earned my Undergraduate degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. Now, I’m working towards completing my graduate degree in Christian Ministry. Upon completion of the degree, which is very soon, my intention is to pursue my Doctorate in Liturgical Studies. I am preparing to both preach and teach the Word of God in a university setting as well as within the Church.

Personal Statement: My relationship with Jesus Christ governs my life. I believe in the transformative power of the Holy Spirit working in the lives of those who yield to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I personally seek to develop all the gifts that God has placed within me, and I equally desire to see the gifts that God has placed in His children to be made manifest. I seek to encourage people in their walk with Christ, but I also choose to sew love into the lives of those who know not Christ. I believe it essential that the Body of Christ love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and body & to love their neighbor as themselves. I believe in LOVE!

Interests/Hobbies: I love to spend time with my sons and with friends. I love to dance, sing, laugh, play, pray, rollerblade, ski, ride bike, hike, four-wheel, play volleyball and baseball, tennis, paint with watercolors and acrylics, write, and decorate. I also believe in community service, so I am a member of the Civil Air Patrol. I’m working towards obtaining my private pilot license. So too, I am working on developing the ministry “Move the Mountain” here at Wayland.

Family: I have two incredible sons named Jayvin and Nathaniel! They are my heroes! They inspire me! But I am also from a family of 12 kids. I am number 11. I learned much from my siblings, mainly how to love and to forgive. But equally important, I learned how to share…which is vital!
