Welcome! to the Anchorage Campus, Student Chapter #5583 of
SHRM |

Chapter To advance the knowledge, skills and abilities of Wayland Baptist
University, Anchorage Student Chapter of SHRM members by providing essential
resources through education, networking, career guidance, and HR activities. The Anchorage Campus Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is
a student-lead organization dedicated to the professional development of
students pursuing careers with human resource management, business
administration, and organizational management. The Student Chapter meets once a month to gain career exposure and
network within Human Resource (HR) professionals. Additionally, the Chapter members plan and
conduct campus student professional development seminars and community
support activities. The Anchorage SHRM
sponsors the Student Chapter, and the Student Chapter is affiliated with the
national Society for Human Resource Management. Student members participate in activities
on and off campus and learn from active HR professionals the career field of
Human Resource Management. |

What is
Human Resource Management? |

|
|
Human Resource Management (HRM) is a key organizational function
concerned with the development of an organization’s people. HRM includes such activities strategic
human resource planning; equal employment opportunity; recruiting and
selection; training and development; performance appraisal; compensation and
benefits; health, safety, and security; labor relations; and employee
relations. Students who major in any
degree program would benefit from understanding what HRM does in various
organizations. Students majoring in
Human Resource Management would benefit tremendously from the networking with
Anchorage HR professionals that supports the Student Chapter. |

you like to see more what we are about, the Student Chapter meets normally
the second Saturday once a month, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Each month the Chapter’s scheduled meeting
is posted at two locals: 1) the campus calendar and the SHRM Bulletin Board located
at the entrance to the Parkside building.

Membership Link Students interested in the Student Chapter are invited to attend a
Chapter meeting. Student membership
