“Welcome Home, Y’all!” is the theme of Homecoming, Oct. 11-12, at Wayland with 10 alumni and two benefactors to be recognized with awards at the annual Homecoming Chapel on Friday morning and the Athletics Hall of Honor on Saturday morning.
In addition to chapel, other Friday events include the Legacy Luncheon for graduates of 50 years and beyond, a reception for honorees, an informal free cookout on Moody Marsh (Laney Center if weather is inclement) on Friday night, volleyball, a theater production and a pep rally.
Other Saturday events include a breakfast for Math and Science alums, a School of Music reception and concert, volleyball, tailgating at the football stadium where the Pioneers host Bacone College and where the Homecoming Queen will be announced and another theater presentation. GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY HIGHLIGHTS
A highlight of Friday's events will be the Legacy League Luncheon for graduates of 50 years and before (free to those folks; $10 for others) as well as the Distinguished honorees who will be cited at chapel along with all other members of the Class of '63, who will receive gold medallions to wear throughout the weekend. The honor class will start their day with a breakfast. Also on Friday, all receiving Distinguished citations and Athletic Hall of Honor inductees will be guests at a reception from 2-3 p.m. in the University Center Parlor.
