Distinguished honorees will be:
|Distinguished Alumni Award: (the highest honor from the Association of Former Students): Joe Provence, BA’66, and Freda Provence, BA’72, Emeritus Director of Alumni Services and executive assistant to five Wayland presidents, respectively. They are leaders in Friends of Music and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.|
|Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award: Steve Ahlenius, BA’83, President and Chief Executive Officer of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and former Wayland trustee.|
|Distinguished Alumni Service Award: Bill Coleman, BA’72, Hale County Judge and former longtime adult probation chief.|
|Distinguished Young Alumni Award: Dr. Scott Franklin, BS’98, BA '98, director of the Virtual Campus, former faculty member in the School of Math and Science.|
|Distinguished Benefactors: Peggy and T.C. Wall of Plainview: Mrs. Wall serves as a trustee and they have been very generous to Wayland through the years on all kinds of projects.|

|Dr. Arch Mayfield, Professor of English, retired after 40 years on the English faculty.|
Emmitt Tipton, BS’69, retired after serving on the business faculty and also Dean of Students for a total of 38 years
Athletic Hall of Honor inductees will be:Ty Harrelson, BA’04: First first-team NAIA All-American for the Pioneers. Now playing and coaching professionally in Australia. Lead donor for the remodeling of the Pioneer dressing room.
Rowena Welford Morton, BS’97: Received 17 NAIA All-American designations and two individual national champonships and led WBU women to an NAIA national title. Still owns two school records.
Kristee Turpin Phelps, BS’00: A key all-conference player on four post-season volleyball teams, holder of several school records and former coach of the Pioneers for two years.
Christy Shippy, BA’91: No. 7 all-time scorer in Flying Queens history, All-American and member of some of the program’s most successful NAIA teams.
Emmitt Tipton, BS’69: Former Dean of Students and business faculty member, he has been one of the most faithful supporters of the athletic program as a fan and track official.
