MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (M.B.A.)

The School of Business offers also the Master of Business Administration degree. A student may select a specialization in GENERAL BUSINESS, HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, or MANAGEMENT. Completion of the M.B.A. degree requirements prepares the individual for progressively challenging and rewarding careers in business, industry, government, and the health field.

Objectives of the M.B.A. program:
1. To provide the theory, principles, and knowledge required for effective management in today's dynamic environment.
2. To develop techniques for basing decision and action on careful analyses of pertinent data.
3. To develop a philosophy of responsible leadership and an appreciation of business ethics.

Any leveling courses which may be required to correct deficiencies must be completed prior to the student's enrollment in a course for which leveling work is a prerequisite. All leveling courses must have a grade of "B" or better. Prospective students are expected to present evidence by transcript or examination that the following courses have been completed:

Leveling Courses:
BUAD 4335 - Quantitative Decision Making
six hours of Accounting:
ACCT 2305 and 2306 - Principles of Accounting I and II or ACCT 3307 - Financial Accounting and ACCT 3308 - Managerial Accounting
Economics:
ECON 2307 - Principles of Macroeconomics and ECON 2308 - Principles of Microeconomics or ECON 4346 - Survey of Economics
three hours of Management:
MGMT 3304 - Principles of Management or an approved substitute
three hours of Marketing:
MKTG 3312 - Principles of Marketing or an approved substitute
three hours of Computing:
MISM 3303 - Information Systems Theory and Practice

The M.B.A. program consists of twenty-five semester hours of core courses and nine semester hours of graduate business courses in the selected area of specialization with the consent of the advisor.

If an area of emphasis is selected, it will consist of a minimum of nine semester hours.
(Since all specializations are not offered on all campuses, students should check with graduate advisors for a list of specializations available at particular sites.)

General Business
The graduate student must obtain the approval of the graduate
advisor on courses chosen for the general M.B.A. specialization. These courses may be chosen from any of the areas of specialization in the graduate curriculum.
