Head for the Plains – It’s Gold Rush Time!

Gold Rush is Wayland’s fall preview event scheduled this year for Saturday, November 3.         It’s one day packed full of information and opportunities for high school juniors and seniors, transfers, and their families.

Join us for 8:30 check-in and breakfast pastries followed by scholarship drawings, tours, auditions, tryouts, entertainment, and lots of information sessions from academic majors to student activities.

Registration
There are two ways to register for Gold Rush.

 

Cost
The registration fee for Gold Rush is $10.00 for each student and for each family member in attendance. That means if you, Mom, Dad, and Sis come, that’s just $40 for Continental breakfast, lunch, and admission to all information sessions.  The registration fee is paid at Check-In. Optional Gold Rush T-Shirts are $8.00 each.  If you're in town the night before Gold Rush, you may also attend the Flying Queens basketball game free of charge.    Just make sure you check into the Admissions Office on Friday so we can provide those free passes.

Housing
If you are a high school junior or senior attending Gold Rush, you may stay Friday and/or Saturday night Gold Rush in the room of a current Wayland student as a guest. Since our dorms are full, you’ll need to bring your own bed (sleepting bag) and bath linens. Gold Rush parents stay at one of the hotels noted below. Hotel space is limited so call soon!

ACT Residual
The ACT Residual is scheduled for 1:00 on Friday afternoon. This is the ACT test, but Residual scores are not transferrable to another college; the scores will be used for Wayland admissions and placement purposes only. When you go to the Van Howeling Education Building for the test, you’ll need $40, a photo i.d., and a reservation. Just call the Admissions Office at 800-588-1928 to reserve your spot.

Application to Wayland

The application fee will be waived for high school seniors and transfers who apply to Wayland during Gold Rush.
