At Wayland Baptist, parents are every bit as important a part of our family and community as everyone else. We recognize and appreciate the fact that our students are who they are and dream big dreams because of the guidance and love you have provided throughout their lives.

You will find a number of ways to embrace your son’s or daughter’s college experience along with them. Some of these include a parent newsletter, informal visits to campus, holidays and breaks when students return home, and the always anticipated care packages.

Whether it’s campus security, academic preparation, support services, spiritual life, the Univeristy Post Office,or how your son or daughter will adapt socially, we realize there are a number of areas in which you are very interested. And we are dedicated to ensuring that any questions, issues, or concerns you may have are addressed. Here are a few pieces of practical advice to keep in mind as you prepare to send your son or daughter to college:

  • Help your child move to campus.
  • Make plans to attend orientation services.
  • Learn what you can about the campus facilities and surrounding area.
  • Ask your child open-ended questions about how the experience is going.
  • Don’t expect to be in constant contact.
  • Be open-minded about what your child plans to study.
  • Don’t panic when they call home in a panic.
  • Write often, even if your child doesn’t write back.
