Admission To Wayland
Admission to Wayland may be considered only after the following documents are submitted:
Please see more information below about these Admissions requirements.
Application for Admission to Wayland
You will be applying as a Graduate.
The only Wayland campuses currently certified to host international students are
Plainview, Lubbock, Wichita Falls, Anchorage, and Hawaii. Please choose one of those campuses in the application. While graduate students may attend classes on the Plainview campus, they are required to enrolll fulltime in external campus terms. The Plainview campus is the only traditional campus with athletics, residence halls, a wide array of degrees, and student activities.
Application Fee
The graduate application fee is $50. It will not be waived.
You may pay your application fee by any of the methods below.
Immigration Information Form
This form provides valuable information for us as we prepare your Admissions file and ultimately, your visa authorization. Click Immigration Information Form to print and complete the form. You may email the completed form to us.
TOEFL Scores
International applicants whose native language is not English must submit TOEFL scores.
TOEFL is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. Scores must be sent directly to Wayland from the test agency, ETS. Wayland's institutional code is 6930. Please see the TOEFL score requirements listed below.
Click TOEFL for more information about the test.
School Transcripts and Evaluations
College transcripts will likely have to be sent to an evaluation agency which, in turn, will send Wayland the official transcript and its evaluation. If you have attended an international school or any other school with instruction primarily in English, you may not have to have your transcripts evaluated. This is a decision made by Admissions officials as they learn about your school's instruction. You will be informed about this requirement through communications with the Admissions staff.
You will be responsible for paying for your own transcript evaluations.
Please use one of the following evaluation agencies:
College transcripts will require a course-by-course evaluation.
Financial Support Form and Bank Statement
You must certify to Wayland and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service that you have sufficient funds available to cover the costs of study and living abroad for at least the first full academic year. The financial support form will be sent to you through email once you have applied. It will provide an itemized list of the costs of attending Wayland for one full academic year. The form must be completed and sent back to Wayland through regular mail service. In addition, you must submit a certified bank statement as verification of the funds in a recognized banking institution. The bank statement should accompany the financial support form when it is sent to Wayland.
Scholarship Contract
Some applicants will qualify for athletic scholarships as they are recruited by Wayland athletic staff. The scholarship forms should be signed by the applicant and returned via email to Wayland or through the regular mail service.
After Acceptance to Wayland
After you are accepted to Wayland, you will receive a packet of information from the Wayland Admissions Office. The packet contains, among other things, the acceptance letter and the Form I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant (F-1) Student Status. At this time, you must pay the SEVIS fee and make an appointment with the U.S. consulate in your country for a visa interview. The packet will contain information about paying the fee which must be completed before the consular appointment can be made.
Hopefully, your prayer and persistence have paid off and your interview ended with your being granted a student (F-1) visa! Now it's time for you and your family to rejoice and time to proceed with the following steps:
Travel Arrangements
You should plan to fly in to Preston Smith International Airport in Lubbock, Texas no sooner than 2-3 days before the beginning of the school term. You could face having to go back home from the airport if you arrive in the country too soon. Please avoid scheduling arrival after the beginning of the term. Travel from the airport will be provided by Wayland. Just make sure we get a copy of your travel itinerary as soon as it is completed.
Wayland Housing
Please apply for Wayland Housing. You must pay $100 housing deposit.
That can currently be submitted through one of the following methods:
Medical Records
All accepted applicants to the university must complete a medical history form complete with proof of the immunizations noted below. The document must be signed and dated by a nurse or physician in the health facility. The documentation must be sent to Wayland by email or by regular mail service before the student travels to the U.S. Please click on Medical Form.
It may be sent back to us through email or through regular mail service.

Health Insurance
All international students must be covered by health insurance. You will be required to provide proof of private health insurance coverage before you arrive on campus or you will be required to purchase Wayland's health insurance for international students. This is a non-negotiable. Student accounts are automatically billed for the coverage unless they can provide proof of private coverage. Sometimes athletic scholarships cover the cost of the insurance, but not always.
If you do not want to billed for health insurance after you enroll for your classes, you must provide proof of the coverage before you travel to Wayland.
NAIA
If you are being recruited by a Wayland coach, you must register through the NAIA.
Graduate Enrollment
All F-1 students are required to attend fulltime. As a graduate student, that means you must enroll in 6 hours per external term. Our external terms are fall, winter, spring, and summer. You will be required to attend 3 continuous terms before you will be able to skip a term. Coursework must include 1 face-to-face class every term and no more than 1 online class each term. These are non-negotiable terms. Failure to comply with them will threaten your F-1 status, enrollment in our university, and legal presence in the country.
