QUESTION:
AS A STUDENT, WHAT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES REGARDING FINANCIAL AID SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT?

ANSWER:
The Financial Aid Office at the Plainview campus is the central point of awarding and disbursing financial aid. The award process begins when a student financial aid file is complete, i.e., contains all information needed by the Financial Aid Office to make an official determination of student eligibility. For federal and state aid, the electronic version of the Student Aid Report (SAR) also know as the FAFSA, from the Federal Processing Center (see Federal Eligibility) is required. The Department of Education randomly selects student files for “verification” and those students are required to submit parent and/or student and/or spouse signed IRS tax transcript, verification documents, and other pertinent documents deemed necessary to verify information submitted on the FAFSA. WBU reserves the right to verify files not chosen by the Department of Education.  Students are urged to respond promptly to requests for additional information.

Awards are based upon the availability of funds at the time a student’s financial aid file is completed. Every financial aid applicant submitting the Institutional Application for Financial Aid is considered for scholarships during the award process. All applications for scholarships are accepted, but awards are based on the availability of funds at the time the student’s financial aid file is completed.

Official notification in the form of Financial Aid Notification is e-mailed to the student. The Financial Aid Notification instructs students to access their loan record and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at www.studentloans.gov.Any student who accepts Federal loans are required by Wayland Baptist University to complete the loan entrance counseling. This can also be done at www.studentloans.gov.
