MEET OUR FINANCIAL AID COUNSELORS

“You are the reason I am here.  I love working with students, helping them find resources to pay for their education, and watching them grow.  God has given me a servant’s heart and the opportunity to make the difference for student’s attending Wayland.  You will also make a difference for me.  Together, we can Seek Your Dream.”

“I was nervous about re-entering the workforce after being a stay-at-home Mom for several years.  However, God led me to Wayland and I am now beginning my fifth year in the Financial Aid Office.  Being a graduate of Texas Woman’s University myself and a proud mother of two Wayland graduates, I realize the importance of financial aid assistance to help with college costs.  I enjoy working with our campuses and students from the far north in Fairbanks, Alaska, to the deep south in San Antonio, Texas.”

Tammy Coleman

“I have been with Wayland since 2006.  I complete the verification and awarding process for our external students.  I work closely with the financial aid counselor at your campus.  I believe that higher education is so important for the direction of the future.  I have found the people in Financial Aid really care about each student.  The reason I like it here is that I feel what we do is so important, by helping the students reach their goals and meet their financial needs.”

Kathy Gwyn

“I am responsible for all phases of student processing, and am available to counsel students on the responsibilities of borrowers when accepting a loan, as well as when they leave school and enter repayment.  I work very closely with lenders to insure that our students receive the best service possible.  I enjoy the Christian atmosphere of our workplace, and I hope that the love of Christ can be seen through us here in the Financial Aid office.”

“I have worked for WBU since April of 2000.  I feel that this is where God lead me when I was looking for a job.  The Christian atmosphere here at Wayland and especially in our office is phenomenal.  The students are great and when we can see that we have made a difference in their lives it is the most amazing thing.  The students and the difference we can make in their lives is why God opened the door for me to be Wayland.”

Mrs. Perri McDonald

“I have been with Wayland since August 2001. I have 15 years experience in the banking field, along with experience as small business owner and working in retail/sales.  I feel that God opened the doors for me to be back in Plainview and at Wayland. I truly enjoy the Christian atmosphere and students here at Wayland. I’ve always liked helping people, so now I have more opportunities to assist through financial aid and scholarships.”

I am a Wayland Baptist University Alumnus with a BBA in accounting, management and computers.  I also, have my MBA in Human Resource Management.  I have worked for WBU for more than 10 years in financial aid.  I started out as a student worker in financial aid and worked my way up to Associate Director of Financial Aid.  I enjoy working with students and seeing that they too can reach their goal of graduating from WBU.”

"I spent almost two years in Oklahoma working first as a student worker, and later as a regular part time employee for the Financial Aid Office, and I absolutely loved it. After moving around a couple of times, I came back to my home town and began working for Wayland in July of 2008. As a former student and participant of the work study program, I realize how valuable and rewarding it is to be employed on a campus as a student worker, and I look forward to helping other students realize that as well. I am excited to be working in Financial Aid again, and feel very blessed to have been granted the opportunity to serve here at Wayland. "

“I came to work in the Financial Aid Office at Wayland because Wayland had given so much to me; I want the opportunity to give back to Wayland.  Over the last 2 years, God has placed in my path the most amazing staff and students that continue to bless and change my life.  As a full time staff, part-time student, mother of 3 and the wife of a teacher/coach/full time WBU student I know that the challenges we face can be overwhelming.  The amazing thing is that God is always there to help us overcome those challenges.  I want to be that person God places in your path to help you face such challenges.”

"I began working for Wayland Baptist University July 2008.   I  returned to college in 2005 attending Wayland as a part-time student and full-time mom.  Although I have faced many challenges along the way, God has always brought me through it. I know from my experience as a student at WBU that financial aid plays such an important role in the lives of students.  I am excited about the opportunity to serve as a member of Wayland’s financial aid team! Through my work I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve God by helping others achieve their goals and dreams."
