EDUCATION:
B.S., Texas Tech University, 1966; M.A., Wayland Baptist University, 1989; study, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1985-1990; Ph.D., Baylor University, 1995.
What’s your favorite book of the Bible and why?
My favorite book in the Old Testament is Ecclesiastes because it is so realistic. I do not find it pessimistic as some do because life, in reality, does take some of the twists and turns that Qoheleth addresses. My favorite book in the New Testament is a tossup between the Gospel of Matthew and the Book of Revelation, both of which are so “Old Testament.”
When I’m not in the Flores Bible Building, I love to . . .
When I am not at work in the Flores Bible Building, I enjoy being at home. I enjoy quilting and scrapbooking as hobbies. I also enjoy doing research on various biblical books and theologies.
What person in history do you wish you could sit down with for a conversation?
If I had to choose just one historical person with whom I would like to sit down and have a conversation, I would choose Queen Elizabeth I. I am fascinated by English history and that time period.
What animal best describes you?
I have been described on occasion as a little Chihuahua
Why are you glad to be part of the Wayland family?
I am glad to be a part of the Wayland family because I am fulfilling the call of God on my life to be a professor teaching the Bible in a university setting.

Dr. Ratcliffe as a Senior in high school.
