Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree

Major: Generic BSN

Program Overview

The online Generic BSN program is an alternative way to complete your Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; the program is administered largely online. A successful student in this program is one who is competent and comfortable working in an electronic environment which includes using the following electronic mediums: Blackboard, Student Services, Proctor Secure/Remote Proctor, Email, Internet, and others. Additionally, the online student should be one who is self-motivated, self-disciplined, and can work independently.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is the degree that the online student will pursue under this program; and Generic BSN is the major under this degree. The Generic BSN major is designed for those students who do not already hold a nursing license. At the completion of the program, the student will earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and he/she will be prepared to test for his/her RN license.

The nursing side of the program is 21-months long (seven terms). The lecture portion of the program will be offered online. Students complete clinicals in the San Antonio, Houston, or Port Arthur area once a month.

Classes begin twice a year, in the Summer (May) and Winter (November) terms.
