DR. ANN STUTES

Dr. Ann Stutes serves as Academic Dean of the School of Music. She is an   associate professor and holds the Shaw Music Professorship. In her eleventh year on the Wayland faculty, Dr. Stutes coordinates the music theory curriculum in addition to her administrative duties.

 

Dr. Stutes holds degrees from Southwestern University, Northern Illinois University and Texas Tech University. She plays the viola and violin and conducts the Handbell Ensemble at First United Methodist Church in Plainview. Her research interests include the pedagogy of music theory, particularly teaching theory to undergraduates and the integration of theory knowledge and skills throughout the entire university music curriculum.

 

In addition to her teaching and administrative work on the Wayland campus, Dr. Stutes represents the School of Music in the National Association of Schools of Music, the Texas Association of Music Schools, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Society for Music Theory.
