Hi-plains gem and mineral society endowed scholarship
Background and Historical Information
The Hi-Plains Gem and Mineral Society is a nonprofit organization. Regular meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month, except September and December, in the Moody Science building on the campus of Wayland Baptist University. Visitors are always welcome.Show date: Last weekend of February.
The purpose of this society shall be: (1) to bring about a closer association of those persons interested in the earth sciences and lapidary arts, (2) to increase and disseminate knowledge about rocks, fossils, minerals, and other geological materials, (3) to encourage study of rocks, minerals, fossils, artifacts, collecting and lapidary works, and (4) to conduct meetings, lectures, displays, and field trips.
Scholarship Administration
Recipients of the scholarship shall be:
1. Science Major
2. 3.00 grade point average or better
3. consider student's financial need
Other stipulations desired by the donor(s)
1. Science department Chairman to choose student.
2. Inform incumbent President of Hi-Plains Gem and Mineral Society name of student chosen.
