texas Undergraduate mathematics conference

Fall 2011

Over Fall Break, six math majors along with Dr. Franklin traveled to the Texas Undergraduate Mathematics Conference at UT Tyler. Students attended talks presented by undergraduate mathematics majors from around the state. Three of our students also competed in a SET (card game) tournament against 16 teams from other universities. Our team, the Pi-oneers, which was made up of Anna Kite, Tami Patterson and Brian Adamson, made it to the finals and finished in second place overall. Dustin Sanders, Rick Ross and Danial Ballinger also attended the conference. Other highlights from the conference included an invited address by a researcher at the NSA as well as a keynote address on some mathematical topics related to the SET card game.
