Dr. Herb Grover received a BA in Biology from Rider University in 1972, an MS in Botany from Rutgers University in 1977, and a Ph.D. in Biology (concentration in ecosystems ecology) in 1982. After more than 25 years in teaching, academic research, state government, and private consulting, Dr. Grover joined the faculty of Wayland Baptist University in 2008. Dr. Grover teaches courses in introductory biology, general ecology and plant biology.
Dr. Grover’s current research interests involve regional patterns in secondary succession; the use of floristic studies to document vegetation change; seed germination strategies of local plants; and the use of tree-ring analysis for studying the effects of moisture availability on tree growth. Dr. Grover and his students have presented talks and posters on these and other topics at recent Texas Academy of Science meetings and at meetings of the Botanical Society of America.
In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Grover’s past-times include hiking, nature photography, bird watching, and anything that involves his grandchildren!
