M&S Kenya Studies Program
Summer 2013
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
THURSDAY, NOV 15th
6:30 pm – Room 110, Moody Science
WHAT : ****A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE****
THREE courses will be taught in hybrid format with 3-4 weeks of common field experience in KENYA!
Ecology of East Africa (can substitute for BIOL 3407 or serve as elective)
Vertebrate Natural History of Kenya (can substitute for BIOL 4406 or serve as elective)
Environmental Science of East Africa (can substitute for ENVS 3401 or ENVS 4301)
Students will take any TWO of the three
Some content may be taken prior to trip; some may be completed upon return
WHEN: Course work begins in Summer I; Trip to Kenya will take place about mid-June to about mid-July, 2013 (exact dates TBA)
WHERE:
Brackenhurst Conference Center and Moffatt Bible College will be home-bases in Kenya
Laikipia District & Mt Kenya
Kijabe area – Lake Naivasha, Mount Logonot National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park
Maasi Mara area
Opportunities for mission work will be included
WHO:
Drs. Kasner and Grover will be leading the program
To be eligible, students must be in good physical condition, qualified for international travel, and be prepared for study and mission work in a developing country
HOW MUCH ??? TBA
Anticipate tuition for 8 credit hours
Air fare – may be ~ $3000
In-country travel, room, board – may be ~ $2800 to $3200 (???) – may be lower; will not be more
