Sacramento mountain Theatre Collaborative

In cooperation with the Spencer Theatre (http://www.spencertheater.com/) in Ruidoso, New Mexico we are conducting auditions for the ninth annual Sacramento Mountain Theatre Collaborative for June, 2014. This program will provide up to 15 students from Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico the opportunity to present a production in one of the top theatres in the Southwest.
In as short a space as possible let me tell you about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Specifically, the students that are selected to participate will be involved in a 10 day theatre workshop intensive in Ruidoso: (1) creating the set and other technical requirements for the production (2) meeting and working with university theatre professors and theatre professionals as well as other acclaimed performance and visual artists in the Ruidoso area and (3) working as actors in a play produced at the Spencer Theatre.
Students will be housed in a local cabin that is  nestled in the mountains and overlooks a beautiful stream. Meals will either be home cooked or provided by area restaurants. In addition to the theatre intensive, students will also be afforded opportunities for recreation like swimming, movies, bowling, miniature golf, go-cart racing, etc., at no additional cost.
The following requirements are necessary for students to be considered eligible: a Junior or Senior student with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, a theatre resume that must contain a minimum of one year experience in high school theatre, an audition in person, or one submitted on video tape—in either case the audition will consist of one longer monologue or two contrasting monologues (no more than 3 ½ minutes total ), three letters of recommendation—one from you, a school administrator and someone unconnected with the high school, as well as a letter from a parent or guardian stating support of their student attending and a promise to provide funding if selected.
All materials outlined above, including auditions are due to the Theatre Department no later than March 31, 2014. This will give us time to work through the applications and make final decisions by the end of April. No funds will be due until final decisions are made, and then a deposit of $200.00 must be received by April 15, 2014.
Total cost for the entire experience is only $450.00. The option of adding college credit is also available for an additional cost.
