Preparing Materials for OnCue Presentation

Three steps in preparing materials for Impatica OnCue
  • Video-- You can use something as simple as a web cam to make a video, but you will also need a microphone and a software program which will integrate the audio and the video. The best format is uncompressed AVI or MOV format. If you use a higher quality digital movie camera, set the sound to 8000Hz, 16bit, mono, and set the video output frame size to 160 pixels wide by 120 pixels high. If you do not have these editing capabilities, we can take care of that in our office. (Also, the Division of Business has the capability of transfering videotape recording to digital format, and they have told us we can use their programs.)
  • Text-- Write out the narrative you plan to use for the audio portion. If you are going to do a video of yourself speaking, this will be the script you will use during the video recording process. (Or you can transcribe the narration after the fact.) The narrative will be visible to the students and will be coordinated with the PowerPoint presentation.
  • PowerPoint slides-- Create the PowerPoint presentation. Add the narrative by typing (or pasting) in the text in the notes section of each slide. It is best to limit the amount of text for each slide so that the presentation is not too static. The segment of the narration that you type into the notes protion of each slide should correspond to the contents of that slide.
Sending the information to our office for final production
The most desirable approach is to save your video and your PowerPoint presentation to the same CD. This can be mailed to us at Virtual Campus, Wayland Baptist University, 1900 W. 7th St., CMB 420, Plainvew TX 79072. If this is not possible, we can set up FTP privileges for you to send the information directly to our website. We can retrieve the materials from that site after you notify us that they have been sent.

Publication
Once we have synchronized the video/audio components with the PowerPoint presentation, we will post the files to the Virtual Campus website and send you an email with the link. You can copy and paste this link into your course materials and your students will be able to access the OnCue presentation.
