Engagement
Purpose: To prompt students to consider how to apply course content to their own situations.
Procedure:
Divide class into pairs. After a particular unit of study, request that the duos send email to each other specifying how they will use the information that they acquired in the unit. Ask each student to send you a copy of their email. Post an announcement listing some of the more interesting or most popular applications.
The interaction will help students realize how others are dealing with the materials and will help you shape your content to the actual needs of your students.
