III.G. Course structure
All courses taught on the Virtual Campus must meet the following minimum standards:
- Interaction between instructor and individual students is required
- Student-to-student interaction is required
- Assignments demonstrate analytical and writing skills
- Access to examinations is authenticated (e.g., through proctoring)
- Resources for information are not confined to the textbook
- Instructor response to student inquiries is prompt
The Virtual Campus also recommends the following:
- Multiple learning methodologies should be employed
- Backup plans are in place in the event of technical difficulties
- Backup copy of the gradebook is saved on a frequent basis
- Records of interactions should be maintained for 90 days following the close of a term
The Virtual Campus Coordinator will examine courses at least once each term. Academic Division Chairs will be asked to review courses from their discipline on a regular basis.
