I.A. Definition of the Virtual Campus
The Virtual Campus is Wayland's designation for the program which coordinates the online courses offered by the University. This program has been developed to supplement the course offerings available at each of Wayland's fourteen physical campuses. The Virtual Campus does not offer an online degree in any area, but supports the University's mission of helping students obtain their educational goals by making courses more accessible.
Online classes are available via the Internet to students who are currently enrolled at any Wayland Baptist University Campus. In an online course, the class web site functions as the classroom. Assignments, notes, slide presentations, ancillary material, and Internet resources are made available to students via the Internet. Interaction between the instructor and the student or among students can be accomplished via e-mail, bulletin boards (not in real-time), and sometimes chat rooms (real-time). Homework assignments are posted on the class website, and students are generally required to submit the completed assignment to the instructor via email.
