Library and Research Resources

Wayland places strong emphasis on the development of research and reference skills. College level courses should require outside reading and research assignments. Accordingly, students should be encouraged to make use of the college and university level libraries available to them. Information on libraries and other learning resources is available at the time of registration and on the Learning Resource Center’s website. Adjunct instructors are encouraged to contact Wayland librarians for help in providing resources for their courses. Several methods of providing necessary materials are utilized at all campus locations:
  • Students and faculty may request to borrow items from the Plainview campus library at no cost to the user or the library can ship materials for use as a short-term local reserve collection.
  • Access to electronic books, articles, and other resources is available online through the library’s website.
  • Print and/or online library guides and brochures are available which list specific libraries, resources and services available for each location.
  • Librarians can assist faculty and students with research, locating information, developing bibliographies, and integrating research skills into coursework.
  • At several campuses, library research instruction for classes is available from local area librarians.
  • Consultation with Wayland librarians is available by way of a toll-free phone line, email, or the library’s website.
  • Adjunct faculty are welcome to make requests for the library to purchase items for its collection.
