| Fall 2008 | A new Geology major has been approved for implementation at Wayland Baptist University. This exciting new development will provide new opportunities for students interested in Physical Science. For more information regarding this new program, please contact Dr. Tim Walsh. The new geology major will be made available in Fall 2008. |
| February 22, 2008 | As part of our Homecoming Weekend, Sharla McCloskey (WBU Chemistry Alum 2004) will present a seminar at 3:00 PM in MSB room 110. Sharla will be speaking about her career and post-graduate education in forensic science. This is a great opportunity for interested students to learn more about this exciting field of applied chemistry. |
| February 22, 2008 | As part of our Homecoming Weekend, Dr. J. Hoyt Bowers and Dr. Gerald Thompson will be honored for their many years of service to Wayland. This event will be held at 2PM in MSB room 100. Anyone is welcome at this event. |
| December 2007 | There will be five posters from the Wayland Chemistry Department presented at the ACS National Meeting in New Orleans in April. Jonathan Carey, Luke Loetscher, Lori Pretzer, Leah Quisenberry, and Stephanie Skiles will present at this national conference. |

| November 2007 | The Department of Chemistry at Wayland Baptist University has been re-approved for a three year extension to the Departmental Research Grant from the Welch Foundation. This extension is for $75,000 over the next three years. We are profoundly grateful to the Welch Foundation for these funds. Students interested in undergraduate research in chemistry are encouraged to apply for summer 2008 fellowships. |
| October 2007 | Four posters from the Wayland Chemistry Department were presented at the Southwest Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society. Luke Loetscher, Lori Pretzer, Leah Quisenberry, and Stephanie Skiles presented their research in poster format. Leah Quisenberry was selected as the winner of an Oustanding Undergraduate Poster award. |
| October 2007 | Philip Carlson and Lori Pretzer have published the results of their chemistry research at Wayland in Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, a peer reviewed journal of the American Chemical Society. | September 2007 | The Annual Cookout for the Division of Math and Science is scheduled for Thursday, September 20th at 6PM at the Moody Science Building. All majors, minors, and their families are encouraged to attend. Come hungry! |

| October 2002 | A new class, Faith and Science (HONO 1396) will be offered in the Spring of 2003. This class will touch on a wide variety of issues related to the relationship between the Christian faith and modern science and the scientific viewpoint. This class will be taught by Dr. Boyd with input from Mr. Franklin and Dr. Reinhart (and hopefully others). The class will meet TR 3:30-4:45 in MSB 109. Contact Dr. Boyd for more information. |

| May 2002 | The Chemistry Department proudly acknowledges the graduation of three chemistry majors: Ryan Boyd, Emily Stewart, and Diana Trischitti. Ryan is beginning the MBA program at Texas Christian University, Emily Stewart is currently doing mission work in San Antonio and will be enrolling in a biochemistry graduate program in the spring, and Diana is staying at home with her brand new baby boy in Brownfield, Texas. Congratulations to all of these graduates! |
