Dr. Boyd received his BS in Chemistry and Mathematics from Wayland Baptist University in 1997, and completed his PhD at Rice University in 2001. Dr. Boyd currently teaches General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis at Wayland.  His graduate research was in the areas of holographic data storage materials with Dr. Vicki Colvin, and the far-infrared dielectric properties of confined water with Dr. Colvin and Dr. Daniel Mittleman. Dr. Boyd's research has been published in several scientific journals including: Chemistry of Materials, Applied Optics and Physical Review Letters, and Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research.
