Our Services

The function of Wayland’s Writing Center is to assist every WBU member in writing and the methods of research.  We can assist you in understanding your writing instructions, defining your paper’s topic, developing a thesis, and improving the organization of your paper, as well as in developing cover letters, resumes, and applications for scholarships and graduate (or professional) work.  Whether your tutorial session is face-to-face or online, have the instructor’s writing assignment handy so that it can be easily accessed.

Traditional or Face-to-Face Tutorial

In a traditional tutorial, each client has the opportunity to sit down with one of our tutors for help with a classroom writing assignment or professional-related documents.  Each tutorial session is 30 minutes long since we find a timed session produces the best results.  If you think that you need extra time, you are welcome to schedule a session more than once on the same day, including a back-to-back session, if there are no other appointments at that time.

Online Tutorial

If you would like to utilize our online services, you may submit a paper through the Writing Center Portal (located on our menu above) or through our Writing Center location in Blackboard.  The Writing Center Portal requires you to register for a password and to use your WBU email address.  If you choose to use Blackboard to submit a paper to us, the instructions for submission can be found under the link “Blackboard Instructions” on our menu above.  Whichever system of delivery you choose to use, please include your assignment’s instructions along with the paper.
