Centennial

wayland to celebrate centennial in 2008

Founded in 1908 by pioneer physician Dr. James H. Wayland, Wayland Baptist University will formally celebrate its Centennial from August 2008 to August 2009, starting with the freshman orientation week, called Koinonia, in mid-August and wrapping up with the May graduation ceremony. The 2009 Koinonia event will officially kick off our 101st year.

Just as our founder dreamed of an institution providing quality education to the children of the high plains of Texas, grounded in the context of faith in Jesus Christ, Wayland continues to dream of growth and progress as we help the next generation of students dream about their futures. The dreams of our students at all 14 campus locations, along with God’s hand of blessing on our university, have kept Dr. Wayland’s dream alive for 100 years. And we don’t intend to stop anytime soon.

The links on the left blue bar will guide you through the historical milestones, Centennial Celebration events and other special opportunities to enjoy this significant anniversary with Wayland. Whether you are an alumnus, a community supporter, a donor or just a friend, we welcome you to join us in this celebration of 100 years of education, service and faith as we’ve dreamed, helped others dream and seen those dreams become reality.
