Nursing Degree

Nursing Degree

The School of Nursing is currently housed completely on Wayland’s San Antonio campus, with Dr. Diane Frazor serving as dean. Presently, San Antonio is the only WBU campus to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Plans for the future include expanding that degree to other Wayland campuses as the facilities and faculty can be secured.

Besides the traditional undergraduate degree in nursing, the School of Nursing also oversees the RN-to-BSN completion program, which is offered completely online for those already holding the Registered Nurse license. This program allows such individuals to pick up additional coursework in the liberal arts and some nursing coursework in order to complete the baccalaureate degree. This is especially helpful for RNs who desire to one day earn the master’s degree in nursing for career advancement or teaching opportunities.

The nursing degree program at Wayland offers plenty of hands-on experiences for students outside the classroom lecture requirements. The traditional BSN program begins with cohorts each fall and spring term, with a 53-hour major course of study and a 76-hour academic core. The Student Nursing Organization also offers students additional opportunities for service learning, and participants typically host a health fair on the campus annually to put their skills to use.

ATTENTION PRE-NURSING STUDENTS

Wayland will not admit a Summer 2014 or a Fall 2014 Cohort for the Generic
